Job Title: Multimedia and Publications Editor
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Center for Contemporary Arab Studies Multimedia and Publications Editor is responsible for editing, basic designing, and the production cycle for all CCAS print and electronic publications, as well as creating promotional materials for CCAS and MAAS. The position requires strong writing skills, command of multimedia/social media, knowledge of the Arab World, and editing experience. This person works as a team with the Events Coordinator, Educational Outreach Coordinator, and Academic Programs Coordinator in support of the Center`s mission. The Multimedia and Publications Editor edits academic and other papers, coordinates and produces edited volumes of original scholarship for publication, and acts as a resource to the print and on-line publishing field within the field of Arab Studies. He/she is also responsible for the content development, site design, and application and database development of the Center’s web site, and publicizes and markets CCAS on the web. Ideally, the position acts as the Center’s photographer and coordinates CCAS event recording and its dissemination, as well as oversees advertising and marketing of CCAS publications and programs.
Minimum requirements: Proven writing, editing and multimedia/social media experience. Ideally, 3-5 years of on-line and print publications experience with excellent writing skills. In-depth knowledge of the Arab world and Arabic language proficiency required. Adobe In Design and basic Photoshop proficiency required, other web development skills preferred. Website design, development and management experience. Demonstrated combination of editorial, graphic design, social media/publicity, web design skills and experience. Master’s degree preferred. Job requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task.
